How do I Waterwatch?
Community waterway monitoring groups across Queensland are involved in a range of projects to learn more about their local waterways. Many conduct routine monitoring to determine the health of their local waterway and identify long term trends. Others conduct monitoring to evaluate the success of management actions.
Getting started
For any waterway monitoring activities it is useful to be part of a group. If you are already part of a group, planning is the first step for getting started with your monitoring project! For more information, see how to monitor.
If you would like to find and join an existing community-based waterway monitoring group, see the list of regional contacts.
If there are no existing groups in your area, you may want to start your own. To find out how, see information on organising a monitoring group.
Waterway pollution
If you are concerned about a pollution event or emergency in your local waterway, report it to the Environmental Protection Agency's Pollution Hotline -1300 130 372 which is operated 24 hour, 7 days a week.
